One month ago, I sat at my Masters graduation watching my dreams come true. I was finally a psychologist. But sitting there, I was in severe physical pain not understanding why. Over the next month the pain grew and grew until I could no longer leave the house so I went for testing. I thought it would be pcos but my doctor called me and said I better come in, the results cannot be given telephonically. My fiance and I sat there, 31 years old and all else drowned out but the word tumor.

I have been a student for many years fighting to cover my studies. As such, I don’t have medical aid and now I am facing further financial difficulties as I will most likely not be able to begin my community service as the long road ahead of testing and treatment commences. I ask from the bottom of my heart for any financial assistance in covering the tests that are needed. The tests need to be done urgently and waiting for the public system will delay not only the results but also access to treatment and my ability to make my dream come true helping others in the mental health system.

At this point my testing involves further blood tests, another ultrasound and assessments by a specialized gynecologist. From there it will likely involve a contrasted CT scan.
