Our mom, Penny [Swisa], has very unexpectedly been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to other organs. This has rocked our whole family, who is rallying around her in every way that we can.

Immunotherapy is the only viable treatment option for her, but unfortunately, medical aid will cover only 50% of the R82 000 each treatment will cost, one every 3 weeks.

Penny has been trying really hard in the last few years since being retrenched from her job of almost three decades to secure work, but it has been difficult to find consistent and stable employment.

As such, in addition to the R41 000 per treatment that is required out of pocket, we will need help to secure the medical aid costs that prevent the treatment from being even more unaffordable, as well as assistance for day to day care support in the next year of treatment.
